5040 Peak & Cobalt Lake Trail, Port Alberni

After a wonderful 6 weeks exploring Vancouver Island, we are officially back off on mainland and want to share some of the special things we got to experience while living on the island.

Our first destination after leaving Victoria was Tofino. We loved this small ocean side town so much that we stayed for 10 days. The longest we have stayed in one place on this whole trip so far! Spent our days here working in cute cafes and surfing.

After a great 10 days, we left Tofino to explore the Northern side of the Island. On our way, we stopped and did some wonderful trails and hikes!

By this point (1200m elevation) we were up to our knees in snow so we didn't make it all the way to the 5040 peak, but we got to this beautiful view at Cobalt Lake!

We took a 1.5 hour road trip down a gravel road filled with pot holes to reach the most incredible hidden gem of a beach that we have ever been to. Rated one of the top 35 most beautiful beaches in the world, San Josef Bay.

We've seen (mostly) everything we wanted to see on the Island but we loved everything about it and it still has so many hidden beautys left to uncover so we will definitely be back. But for now, we have escaped the cold and will be spending the next few weeks in the Southern US before heading back home for Christmas!
